That’s good news for serious truck users, as the Raptor is no substitute for the Power Wagon, and vice versa.

Cats engines like the Cat 1160 were in big Ford trucks for years ( like 550 and 650 Fords). My dads 2/12 ton service truck when he was with the local Caterpillar dealer had one.
They started using the “inter-trashinals” back in the pickups in the 80s.

@wodanowitz I heard it on a couple truck forums but when I heard the rumors I talked to the CAT Mechanics that work on our dozers. I work at a Coal fired power plant and we have CAT mechanics. They said that it is not a rumor and Toyota is not there first choice to go with. They Rather do GMC, Ford, or Dodge. But if the money is right and the big 3 blow CAT off then they will go to Toyota

@dab0ss901 Dude totally agree wit u its an off road tank not sum POS sissy truck that u have a heartattack over a scratch more of flippin into a demtion of pissed off u never been in b4 because u cracked the tranny or transfer case but like that will ever happen but if u do uill probaly brag about like i would

@deerslayer2446 …… were can I learn more about that news in reference to the CAT Dieselengine deal with either Ford or Toyota ??? Thanks.
July 31st, 2010 at 11:35 am
@SecularTechnology this is true, but it was more reliable then the 6 liters in my opinion
July 31st, 2010 at 11:50 am
@sherwoob1
well they are so good pick ups
July 31st, 2010 at 12:20 pm
@deerslayer2446
The 7.3 Liter had too little power, they would never revert back to that.
July 31st, 2010 at 12:36 pm
@SecularTechnology Ya but business is business. Cat will go if the money is good. Ford needs to go back to the 7.3 liter. But you cant go wrong with a duramax with an Allison Transmision!
July 31st, 2010 at 1:05 pm
Id like to slam one of these and put on some 24s
July 31st, 2010 at 1:20 pm
GMC 2500 HD with the Duramax will walk all over the cummins, sorry it happened Dodge fans. Raptor may be a POS in your opinion but atleast Ford and Chevy can make it more the 100,000 miles before the tranny goes or some electrical problem. Dodge are build cheap! Plain and simple. Power Wagon is not the ultimate work truck. Dodge will be in trouble if Ford or Toyota seal the Deal with Cat. No deisel will beat the Cats engine!

i will punch the first person i see that puts some big ass rims like dubs with street tires on this truck.just saying.
July 31st, 2010 at 1:50 pm
@SecularTechnology yeah thats why id buy the 2500 before i did the power wagon
July 31st, 2010 at 2:05 pm
@hoythunting1
The Hemi can tow up to 15,000 with the right Axel ratio/Gearing for the 2010 Ram 2500. Obviously not in the Power Wagon though.
July 31st, 2010 at 2:21 pm
I would call Jeeps the “go-anywhere forest service vehicle”, and the Power Wagon a workhorse off-road vehicle.
July 31st, 2010 at 2:36 pm
@xellos26
When you need to go in the Baja very fast you get the Raptor. When you need Off-Road capability with hauling power you get the Wagon.
